Through reading, listening, discussion, vocabulary, grammar, and conversation activities, you'll improve your Italian naturally while learning something new in every workshop.

Italian language workshops in Haarlem

These in-person Saturday workshops take place in a beautiful language school in the historic city centre of Haarlem, just a short walk from the city's cafés, museums, shops, and public transport.

Lessons combine language, culture, and communication in an inspiring classroom environment, making every workshop both educational and enjoyable.

Flexible Saturday workshops

Unlike a traditional weekly course, Grandi italiani consists of three independent Saturday workshops of three hours each.

Every workshop tells the story of a different famous Italian, using authentic texts, discussions, and interactive activities to develop your Italian language skills while discovering Italian culture. You are welcome to join a single workshop or attend the complete three-part series at a discounted price.

Lessons are highly interactive and combine reading, listening, discussion, vocabulary, and conversation in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.

More than just a language exchange

CIAO! Taalcafé is a 90-minute language exchange designed for people who want to practise Italian, Spanish, or Dutch while meeting others who are also learning a foreign language. Whether you're practising Italian, Spanish, or Dutch, you'll have the opportunity to use the language you're learning while supporting someone else who is learning yours.

The language café is suitable for learners who already have a basic knowledge of Italian, Spanish, or Dutch and would like to put their skills into practice in a relaxed and social setting. The programme consists of three independent Saturday sessions:

You can join a single session or take part in all three at a discounted price.

Practise a language, meet people, connect

Learning a language is not only about vocabulary and grammar. It's about having conversations, making connections, and finding the confidence to use the language with real people.

At CIAO! Taalcafé, you'll meet others who have also chosen to learn a foreign language and who understand the challenges — and the rewards — of that journey. You'll practise together, support each other, and share the experience of learning and using a new language.

It's a chance to step away from textbooks and language apps and actually use the language you've been learning.

Guided by native-speaking teachers

CIAO! Taalcafé is hosted by two experienced language teachers: Nomad Teachers Giovanna and Peter, native speakers of Italian and Dutch, and speakers of Spanish.

Their role is to guide the session, create opportunities for interaction, and help participants feel comfortable using their target language. With prepared activities and conversation prompts, you'll never be left wondering what to talk about or how to get the conversation started.

The result is a relaxed but purposeful language exchange where everyone has the opportunity to participate.

Language exchange in Haarlem

CIAO! Taalcafé takes place in a comfortable language school in the historic city centre of Haarlem, just a short walk from the city's cafés, shops, museums, and public transport.

The classroom provides a welcoming space to meet other language learners, practise together, and enjoy an evening of multilingual conversation in a central and accessible location.

Italian with storytelling

Description

Do you dream of learning Italian in the same way you have learned your mother tongue? Without books or grammar rules but through listening and understanding first, so that interacting comes then naturally? It’s not a dream, it’s the reality at Talenmeester!

Also, you learn Italian through storytelling as well: during the lessons, you co-create stories with your teacher and fellow students: language acquisition is more efficient in this way… and you have fun!

LESSONS IN CLASS

The Italian lessons are in person in Hoofddorp (The Netherlands) at Talenmeester. There are several groups and levels:

ITALIAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE WORKSHOP

Join us for a fun and engaging workshop where you’ll dive into the world of the Festival di Sanremo, Italy’s most famous and beloved song contest. Through readings, listenings, quizzes, and games, you’ll discover why Sanremo is much more than a music festival and why it plays such an important role in Italian culture, language, and society.

You’ll learn about iconic songs and singers, typical expressions used during the festival, and the traditions, rituals, and debates that surround this unique event—all while improving your Italian language skills. Everything will be explained in a clear and accessible way, with vocabulary that’s especially useful for talking about music, opinions, and pop culture in Italian.

The workshop is open to anyone with a curious mind! Whether you already watch Sanremo every year or have only heard about it, there’s always something new to discover. It’s a great way to immerse yourself in contemporary Italian culture and a perfect complement to any Italian language course you’re already taking.

And to end the workshop in true Sanremo style, in the final part you’ll have the chance to comment like a real Italian viewer: express opinions, agree or disagree, and react to performances just as Italians do during the festival.

In this course, we cover the second half of the elementary level (A2).

You get more vocabulary and language structures to talk about everyday life topics: music and film genres, public transport, work, family, etc. You will learn useful language to be ready for practical situations such as inviting friends out, talking about your future projects, looking for a house, etc.

You will be engaged in a variety of activities that stimulate spontaneous participation and interaction and allow you to practice all language skills [listening, speaking, reading, and writing], while practising pronunciation, learning new words, and new grammar structures [verbs in futuro and condizionale, while practising passato prossimo and imperfetto].

This course is suitable for you if:

Description

Do you dream of learning Italian in the same way you have learned your mother tongue? Without books or grammar rules but through listening and understanding first, so that interacting comes then naturally? It’s not a dream, it’s the reality at Talenmeester!

Also, you learn Italian through storytelling as well: during the lessons, you co-create stories with your teacher and fellow students: language acquisition is more efficient in this way… and you have fun!

LESSONS IN CLASS

The Italian lessons are in person in Hoofddorp (The Netherlands) at Talenmeester. There are three different groups and levels:

☛ 8:00 - 9:30 pm - Group 8

In this revision course at elementary level, you refresh and strengthen your knowledge of the Italian language through games! The ingredients of each lesson are a lexical topic, vocabulary to review, a game, and of course, conversation practiced naturally while playing.

sUMMER RELAX

There is no homework and no specific preparation is required before each lesson, but you will keep your Italian active with no effort... perfect when summer is approaching!

Also, this course offers you the flexibility to combine your desire to study Italian with your holiday needs: you can sign up for the full 12-week course, or decide to join for fewer lessons up to a minimum of 8 lessons.

This course is suitable for you if:

Description

In this course, we cover the second half of the elementary level (A2).

You get more vocabulary and language structures to talk about everyday life topics: music and film genres, public transport, work, family, etc. You will learn useful language to be ready for practical situations such as inviting friends out, talking about your future projects, looking for a house, etc.

You will be engaged in a variety of activities that stimulate spontaneous participation and interaction and allow you to practice all language skills [listening, speaking, reading, and writing], while practising pronunciation, learning new words, and new grammar structures [verbs in futuro and condizionale, while practising passato prossimo and imperfetto].

This course is suitable for you if:

☛ you have already completed the first part of level A2, recently or some time ago;

☛ you have already completed level A2, recently or some time ago and want to refresh your knowledge;

☛ you have time to spend on homework to consolidate what you have learned in class and to prepare for the next lesson.

PASTA WORKSHOP & Italian lesson

In easy Italian & English

Make pasta online with other language and food lovers from all over the world!

PASTA WORKSHOP

We are going to make orecchiette e cavatelli, two typical shapes of fresh pasta from Puglia.

With simple ingredients and the right movements of your hands and fingers, we fill the cutting board with our creations.

We only make pasta together, but we reveal the secrets to making a delicious dish so that you complete your masterpiece after the workshop!

ITALIAN LESSON

The workshop is in (easy) Italian and you’ll be immersing yourself in the cooking vocabulary and in the love for pasta-making in a relaxed atmosphere.

With quizzes and fun activities, you will discover more about the pasta we make and about the cultural aspects of Italy.

We are going to experiment with language and cooking through creative language activities.

This workshop is suitable for you if:

☛ you don’t speak Italian at all but you are not afraid of the challenge and you are good at using all your senses to understand a new language;

☛ you understand and speak Italian and you want to practice your listening skills in Italian while learning more cooking vocabulary;
