Storie di pasta is a delightful immersion in culinary traditions, a tasty way to discover the secrets of pasta-making, a social moment with an ancient flavour, a delicious way to get started with the Italian language and culture or, if you already speak Italian, a mouth-watering way to practice your listening skills and cooking vocabulary in Italian.
Storie di pasta comes also in the version chitchat in the kitchen Parla come mangi: it means literally speak as you eat and it’s a gentle invitation from popular wisdom to speak in a simple way, as simple as the food we eat. Having conversations in Italian in a simple way while cooking simple traditional recipes is exactly what we do.
Storie di pasta is the result of a meeting between creativities: that of an Italian teacher (Nomad Teacher Giovanna) - who finds new ways to offer authentic Italian experiences and to promote different cultures' meetings, and that of an Italian artist (Chiara Dellerba) - who starts from traditions to build strategies in which caring, resting, pausing, and breaking can be re/claimed as political acts by and for everyone.
Slowness and simplicity are the key principles of Storie di pasta, making pasta by hand and cooking simple recipes. And of course, sharing: sharing in our kitchens, but also online in the most distant kitchens.
What to expect
engaging 2 hours live session and hands-on workshop, online via Zoom
workshop with Chiara: you’ll make fresh pasta in the Storie di pasta version, or cook a dish in the Parla come mangi version.
lesson with Giovanna: you’ll be involved in entertaining language and cultural activities in the Storie di pasta version, and you get engaged in conversation activities in Italian in the Parla come mangi version.
