We could not remain indifferent to the events in Ukraine and we joined Haarlem4Ukraine as volunteers. We do our bit to help by doing what we do well: teaching languages and showing around!
Language courses for Ukrainian refugees
Nomad Teacher Peter constantly offers his help to refugees of all nationalities in his regular Dutch lessons and he hasn't thought twice about offering a free Dutch course for Ukrainians. So Nomad Teachers Giovanna dusted off her Russian to manage enrollments, Double Dutch Haarlem made her school available in the center of Haarlem, and now there is a group of new students eager to learn more about the language and country they are currently living in.
On the other hand, there are those who prefer the melody of Italian to the typical sounds of Dutch. No problem! Nomad Teacher Giovanna takes care of it with a free Italian course for Ukrainian refugees at Badhuis, in Haarlem. A bit of dolce vita is always good for the mood!
Walks around Haarlem
Since we like languages, every Tuesday we offer a nice opportunity to practice English (or have Nomad Teacher Giovanna practice Russian) in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. Together with the other volunteers Antoinette, Halina, and Rob, we go for a walk and show Haarlem and the surrounding nature to those who have recently arrived in the city. Come and join us!
